An IC or Integrated Circuit, is an electrical circuit that connects electronic components to perform a particular function. There are other types of ICs on the mainboard, such as IC SIO, IC Sound, IC Card Net, and IC power oscillator. The CPU, Northbridge chipset, and Southbridge chipset are also ICs on the mainboard.
1. IC SIO
IC SIO is short for Super Input/Output.
The IC SIO works with the Southbridge chipset to control the mainboard’s power on and off. It also receives and manages signals from peripheral devices, such as the keyboard and mouse.
How to recognize IC SIO on the mainboard?
– IC SIO is a square integrated circuit with four rows of pins and is one of the largest ICs on the machine.
– The name of the manufacturers such as ITE, Winbond, SMSC, NUVOTON, etc., is written above IC SIO.
2. IC Sound
IC Sound has the function of processing audio signals on the mainboard. Realtek manufactures common IC sound. These ICs usually have IC codes that start with ALC (Automatic Level Control) such as ALC662, ALC889, etc.
3. IC Network
IC Network handles network signals sent to the mainboard. Realtek manufactures common IC networks, which are usually identified by IC codes that start with RTL (Register Transfer Level), such as RTL8110, and RTL8210, etc.
4. IC oscillator for power
The power IC oscillator generates electrical impulses that control the MOSFETs’ operation in power supply circuits. These ICs are typically small, with 2 or 4 rows of pins, and they are usually located near the MOSFETs and coils. IC codes often include symbols like MAX…, ISL…, RT…, and ADP…. Examples of IC codes include MAX 1631, ISL6262, and so on.
There are several types of power oscillator ICs, including IC RAM power oscillators, IC CPU power oscillators, IC chipset power oscillators, etc.
There are several types of power oscillator Integrated Circuits (ICs) that are commonly used in electronic devices. These include IC RAM power oscillators, IC CPU power oscillators, IC chipset power oscillators, and many more.
