Steps to disassemble a computer

Disassembling a computer can be a daunting task, but it can also be necessary for repairs or upgrades. In this article, we will learn how to disassemble a computer.

2. Instruments preparation

Each student prepares the following tools:

Main tools:

  • 01 Desktop computer
  • 01 screwdriver
  • 01 screw box

Support tools:

  • 01 computer cleaning brush
  • 01 cleaning cloth

3. Steps to disassemble and assemble a computer

3.1. Steps to disassemble a computer

1. Take off the computer case cover

2. Take out the power supply unit (PSU)

3. Disconnect the signal cables

4. Disconnect the data cables

5. Take out RAM and expansion cards

6. Remove the mainboard from the case

7. Take out the cooling fan and CPU

8. Remove the hard disk drive, optical disc drive, and floppy disk drive from the desktop case

3.2. Steps to assemble a computer

To assemble the Desktop, insert the components in the reverse order you removed them.

1. Place the hard, optical, and floppy disk drives into the desktop case.

2. Install the cooling fan and CPU.

3. Install the mainboard into the case.

4. Install the RAM and expansion cards.

5. Connect the data cables.

6. Connect the signal cables.

7. Install the power supply unit (PSU).

8. Replace the case cover.

4. Requirement of practice

  • You must disassemble and assemble the desktop following regulations.

  • You are required to take pictures and record videos for documentation.
